Kenyan Carved Wooden Kitchen Accessories: In the African way of life works of folk art serve spiritual, aesthetic and functional purposes. Africans believed spirits of deceased relatives took the forms of wild animals and protected their living relatives from evil spirits. Carvings of animals represented the presence of the spirit of a deceased relative and were kept in the house to protect it. These wooden accessories are fully functional and should be washed by hand.
