Kashmiri Paper Maché Ornaments: this exotic folk art originated in the 15th century in Persia and was brought home from Samarkand in Central Asia by a Kashmiri Prince. Paper Maché Art soon became very popular with the Mogul Emperors in the 15th Century. Paper is first recycled to pulp and this pulp is formed over a mold. With sanding, gluing, and many layers of pigments and lacquers, a delicate art form is produced. Each item includes an educational tag.
